‘Jackson Mount’ for DIY Mobile Filmmaking

A new year and new rig to enable students to do controlled camera tilts and pans with their mobiles. This super simple cardboard rig is easy to build and doesn’t add any financial stress for students. Hopefully it helps them reconnect with their inventive, creative impulses. For materials I used a flap off a cardboard box, paper tape, glue stick, chopstick, and a push pin. For building I used a cutting mat, Xacto knife, cork-backed metal ruler, and a pencil. My students named this the Jackson Mount. Below are more details on the process and some test shots.
